Catholic Classroom Project #06: Beauty

January 6th, was the feast of the Epiphany. This word comes from the Greek verb meaning 'to reveal'.  The Magi followed the star and it led to Jesus.
  • Are there 'stars' in our school that point us to Jesus?
  • Where is the beauty, in your school, that points us to Jesus?
Your assignment this month is to find the beauty in your school! Look at your school with fresh eyes. Is their something you walk by everyday that needs to be noticed and shared? Surprise us with beauty! What will it be? Will it be a drawing, a statue, a painting, or even a something not made by the hand of man.

Send your photos of what is beautiful and draws you to Jesus.

Email your pictures to Barb.Gilman.Beauty14@Blogger.com

Remember that the subject line of the email will become the title of your post. Be sure to include:

  • Your city and school
  • Your grade

Thanks for contributing to this project. Let's make this a great start to our new year by sharing the beauty of your school.

The Beautiful & Mystical River by Ken Willers

Once Upon A Time, there was a man who went on a journey in search of a beautiful and mystical river. When he found the river he sat down next to it, he drank from it, he bathed in it, he fished from it, he played in it, and he even nearly drowned in it. This man was filled with joy just by being with the river. The man stayed many days and nights with the river and listened to its mystical teachings. Before he left he painted a picture of the river and then set off for home.

Upon his return his family, friends, and the towns people all noticed the joy this man now possessed and asked him what had happened to him at the river. They asked him many questions about the river and wanted to know what mystical teachings he had learned.

The man told them, "You must go for yourselves and experience this river. You must see, listen, touch, taste, and smell the river for yourselves for I could never fully describe or hope to explain the beauty or the mystery I experienced from this river. Words could never say it all. . .I urge you, Go! Experience the river yourselves."

Instead, the people found the man's painting of the river and took it from him. They said--the secret of the river is hidden within this painting. So they put the painting into a special golden frame, built a large building, and hung the painting on the wall so they could come and gaze at the picture hoping to find it's secret. The man seeing what had happened was sad and he wished he had never painted that picture of the beautiful and mystical river.
