Beautiful Nuns

This beautiful picture lights up the hallway and grabs your attention. It reminds every student to stop and think about how the wonderful Nuns took the time to teach and guide us.

Pieces of Faith

Each year the 8th graders collaborate on a watercolor painting which they donate to the school to adorn the walls. Each student is given a photocopied square to paint in whatever color he or she chooses. The students do not know what the large picture will be, they only know their little square--until it is unveiled on graduation night.

Here are just a few of the pictures they have produced over the years, with the help of their teacher, watercolorist Stan Miller.

Symbols that Surround

The first photo is one of 4 in our main hallway that greet our students everyday with two beautiful faces and the word ‘Inspire.'

The second photo is our Convent/School chapel that is our quiet spot for reflection right off the playground.

The last photo is actually, our symbol and theme for the whole school. Created by the class of 2014 (while they were 7th grade students last year) they inspire themselves and the entire community with their theme/symbol. As you can see it is the symbol of the Star. We do this each year with our 7th grade in anticipation of their 8th grade year. We receive a new symbol and them that is unique to each graduating class. (completely generated by the students. No adult influence at all.

Catholic Classroom Project #06: Beauty

January 6th, was the feast of the Epiphany. This word comes from the Greek verb meaning 'to reveal'.  The Magi followed the star and it led to Jesus.
  • Are there 'stars' in our school that point us to Jesus?
  • Where is the beauty, in your school, that points us to Jesus?
Your assignment this month is to find the beauty in your school! Look at your school with fresh eyes. Is their something you walk by everyday that needs to be noticed and shared? Surprise us with beauty! What will it be? Will it be a drawing, a statue, a painting, or even a something not made by the hand of man.

Send your photos of what is beautiful and draws you to Jesus.

Email your pictures to Barb.Gilman.Beauty14@Blogger.com

Remember that the subject line of the email will become the title of your post. Be sure to include:

  • Your city and school
  • Your grade

Thanks for contributing to this project. Let's make this a great start to our new year by sharing the beauty of your school.
