St. Dominic Savio
St. Dominic Savio.
St. Dominic Savio was a famous Saint known for his peacemaking ways and kindness to others. He is my role model because of his good ways. His motto was "Rather Death than Sin." Once when he was in school he saw two boys getting ready to throw stones at each other but before they could Dominic stepped in the middle of them holding a crucifix saying "Before you fight, look at this and say Jesus Christ was innocent and he died forgiving his murderers. I am a sinner and I am going to hurt him by not forgiving my enemies. Then you can start and throw your first stone at me!" His life was so devoted to God and Jesus he was ready to stop people from sinning and forgiving in people as Jesus did. He will always be my most important role model, next to Jesus.

Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
I admire Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native North American Saint. Her father was the chief of the Mohawk Tribe and her mother a Catholic Algonquin. When she was 20, Kateri joyfully joined the Catholic Church to be like her mother, although this was met by great anger from her family. She was threatened by family and strangers alike, and even stoned. However, she remained faithful and never renounced God. When the taunting became too much for her, Kateri abandoned her family and ran away to a Catholic mission about 200 miles away. She lived a faithful life and vowed herself to perpetual virginity meaning that she would remain unmarried and completely devoted to God. I feel a personal connection to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha because through the very difficult times in her life and all of her sickness, she still pledged herself to God. I truly admire her undying faith and trust in the Lord, which is why she is one of my favorite saints.

St. Rose was a beautiful young girl that had a strong relationship with God. She was very beautiful and her parents wanted her to wear fine clothes, have food fit for the rich, and they wanted her to marry a young, handsome, rich man. St. Rose refused all of these things, she wore ragged clothes, hardly ate, and she turned down all of the men that proposed to her. She's my favorite saint because she did not let the people around her stop her from always praying to God and not letting them get in the way of her worship. I also like the fact that she stood up for what ahe believed in and that she died a martyr because she would not give up her faith in God. She would do anything to destroy her beauty so she could focus on what God had to say. That is why St. Rose of Lima is my favorite saint.

Saint Michael the Arch Angel
St. Michael the Archangel is the saint you pray too for help or protection. He fought in the battle in Heaven, against Satan. St. Michael threw Satan out of Heaven and protected us from harm. As said in his prayer that he watches over earth and drives the evil spirits away. The Saint Michael the Archangel prayer is what soldiers say before they go into battle. Saint Michael is important to me because his name was my dad's middle name, and my dad was in the Marine Corps, protecting our country. The medallion shown below has Saint Michael holding down Satan on the front with the words "St. Michael Protect me". On the back there is the Marine Corps symbol, saying St.Michael protect the soldiers.

St. Mary
St.Mary is the saint I focus my life on. I try to act as she did, in being faithful and brave. St.Mary was brave by saying yes to God. She was faithful by trusting God to help her through her process. Mary lived a life that had ups and downs. One up is being able to have the chance to be the Mother of God. One down is seeing your only son die, she watched the long, slow process of losing her only son. St.Mary is now watching all of us in Heaven hoping we will all be with her one day as one big happy family of God.

St. Cecilia
My favorite saint is St. Cecilia because she is the patron saint of music. I love music and feel that I can relate to her the most out of all the saints. St. Cecilia was married to a man named Valerian. Cecilia prayed that she stayed pure throughout her life. After marrying her husband, she disclosed to him that she had a secret to share to him but, he was to do one thing before she told him the secret- he was to become Catholic like her. Upon returning from his baptism, he found his wife's secret revealed in a vision- an angel guarding her, presenting the both of them with flower crown, much like Jesus' crown of thorns. The angel disappeared and Valerian's brother was soon baptized, too. Cecilia was martyred and lived for three days after her deathly beating. It is said that: "she heard heavenly music in her heart when she was married."

defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

St. Ignatius of Antioch
In my research, Saint Ignatius Antioch was a very good man. He did many wonderful things to other people and kids that made them happy! He was born in c. 50 and died in c.107. The saddest thing was that he died by being thrown to the beast in the fields.
If you would like to learn more about Saint Ignatius Antioch go to my glogster!St. Bernadette
I like St. Bernadette because I think shes a good role model. When she was young, she saw apparitions of Mary. As she kept going back, people thought she was a blasphemist, and even accused her as such. Bernadette continued to put her faith forward and ignored the people. I believe that makes her a role model because she didn't let anything get between her and her faith. Not even the priest or her parents believed her. When she was at the grotto, she ate dirt in front of a whole crowd of people and it became a spring. Bernadette was the only one who could see Mary. But she also has many qualities.
Bernadette has three main qualities and they all blend together. Perseverance, love and loyalty. She shows perseverance when she gets a ton of people questioning her, she keeps going back. This is also a sign of love for her faith and in Mary and God. Bernadette stops at nothing to make sure that nothing gets between her and her spiritual life. She shows loyalty to Mary and her prayer by returning to the grotto. When all these come together, she was really faithful and strong in her spiritual life. But then again, these are only three of her many qualities.

Saint Maria Goretti
Saint Maria Goretti was sewing in her home while her family was in the fields. She tried her best to avoid very serious sins. Maria lived with more than one family, and a man tried to force her to sin. She said to him that she would rather die than disobey God's Commandments. Being angry, he grabbed a knife and stabbed her eight times. He tried to leave but then she screamed, and so he stabbed her six more times. At the Hospital, she received communion, and forgave Alessandro. She forgave the man that stabbed her. Most people don't do that, but she did. She inspires me because of her forgiving nature. At her canonization, Alessandro was there with her family. They forgave him to. That is something that we all should attempt to do. She was my age, and so I want to be like her as best as I can.

My Saint Bracelet
My Favorite Saint
My favorite saint is Saint Dymphna. I love her because when I first read about her, in second grade, we had an instant connection. We were both Irish! I was ecstatic because I love my heritage and at that age anything Irish was absolutely wonderful. When I read about her I was shocked a father could do such a thing to his only daughter. I was immensely proud of her for sticking up for what she wanted and not what her father wanted, which was wrong.
Her mother died when she was fourteen and her father was determined to find a wife just like her. But he could not so he went to the person closest to his wife, Dymphna. Dymphna wanted to be a nun and to be a nun you mustn't marry anyone but God. She told her distress to her priest friend, so they fled to Belgium to escape her wretched father. Sadly, they were discovered. Her father Damon, ordered Dymphna's priest friend to be beheaded. He still wanted to marry her, but she reluctantly refused. The order of her beheading came because she was strong in her beliefs. Her feast day is May 15th and she is the patron saint of those with mental illnesses and nervous people.

My Favorite Saint-St. Dymphna
My favorite saint is St. Dymphna because she was so courageous! Her mom sadly died when she was little so she lived with her father. Her mother believed in God with all of her heart! Her father was pagan and didn't believe in God. Dymphna's father wanted to marry again and he could not find anyone he wanted to be with. He demanded to marry his daughter, Dymphna. Dymphna ran away with a priest and one of her friends. They were caught and the priest got beheaded. St. Dymphna still refused to marry her own father and her father beheaded her. St. Dymphna stood up for what she thought was right and that is why she is my favorite Saint!
